Queen Ifrica’s ‘Climb’ Makes It To The Top – Debuts At Number One On Reggae Billboard

0

Queen Ifrica now sits atop the Billboard Reggae chart, as her latest studio album, Climb, made its debut in the number one spot this week.

Sales of the album seemed to have been bolstered by an in-store/acoustic performance event at VP Records’ Florida location, as well as strong digital downloads.

Known for her strong and compelling social commentary messages, Climb has been getting rave reviews from fans and music critics alike, for its timely messages and inspirational lyrics.

According to her partner, Tony Rebel, the singer’s hard work is paying off.

“Queen is a fearless explorer and a serious voice for the voiceless, who works very hard to perfect her craft,” he said.

Queen Ifrica has already released one music video from the album for the single, Trueversation. The record

features Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley and has been steadily growing in popularity. The video has so far received over 200,000 cumulative views on YouTube.com.

Strong Advocate

A strong advocate for women’s issues, Ifrica was a big part of the activities to recognise International Woman’s Day in Jamaica last week, where she performed on a concert with other artistes to bring attention to gender abuse against women. Her song, Black Woman, which is also featured on the album, exemplifies her commitment to raising consciousness and esteem among women in Jamaica and the diaspora.

The song admonishes young women to protect and value their sexuality and themselves.

The singer also raised anticipation for the album due to strong performances at the recently concluded Rebel Salute and Love and Harmony Cruise.

“I just want to thank everyone that supported me from day one; you are always in my heart. Please continue to support good music, you are my inspiration. Blessings,” she said.

Soca artiste Fay-Ann Lyons also had a reason to celebrate this week, since her new album made its debut at number three, which is the highest for any female soca artiste.
